This Privacy Policy describes how Quran Minimal (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our mobile application.
We do not require you to create an account to use the basic features of the App. However, if you choose to sign in (e.g., using Google Authentication), we may collect:
- Email Address: Used to identify your account and sync your data.
- Basic Profile Information: Such as your name or profile picture provided by your authentication provider.
B. Usage Data
We collect information about your interaction with the App to provide and improve our services:
- Reading Progress: The last Ayah read in each Surah to allow you to resume reading.
- Bookmarks: Ayahs you have specifically marked for easy access.
- App Settings: Your preferences for themes, font sizes, and notification times.
We may collect basic device information such as your device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers to ensure the App functions correctly and to deliver push notifications.
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain the App: Ensuring you can read the Quran, save bookmarks, and resume your progress.
- To Sync Data: Allowing you to access your bookmarks and progress across multiple devices (when signed in).
- To Send Notifications: Delivering daily reading reminders that you have configured.
- To Improve the App: Analyzing usage patterns to enhance performance and user experience.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Most of your data (progress, bookmarks, settings) is stored locally on your device using a secure SQLite database.
- Cloud Storage: If you sign in, your data is synced to a secure backend (Supabase) to enable cross-device functionality.
- Security: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you:
- Google Play Services: For App functionality and updates.
- Google Authentication: For secure user sign-in.
- Supabase: For data hosting and synchronization.
- Expo: The framework used to build and deliver the App.
The App may also contain links to external websites (e.g., for Tafsir/exegesis). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and Update: You can view and change your settings and bookmarks within the App.
- Data Deletion: You can delete your bookmarks and local data at any time by clearing the App’s storage or using in-app options. If you have a cloud account and wish to delete it, please contact us.
- Notifications: You can opt-out of daily reminders via the App settings or your device’s notification settings.
6. Children’s Privacy
Our App is designed for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date.
